The unprovoked attack took place on Sunday, Jan. 26, immediately after the shooting and homicide on Highland Avenue in Bridgeport, said Bridgeport Police Capt. Brian Fitzgerald.
The 67-year-old man sustained serious physical injuries to his face and head, Fitzgerald said.
"With the assistance of Police Officer Vivenzio, detectives were able to identify the perpetrator as a 15-year-old male who frequents the Greene Homes area," he added.
Myreke Kenion, 18, was fatally shot near the Greene Homes before the attack.
The teen, who turned himself in on Friday, Jan. 31, was charged with assault of an elderly person and reckless endangerment.
He is being held in juvenile detention.
